ONE WEEK ON THE ATLANTIC COAST, STUDENTS FROM THE VOCATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL OF TOURISM DISCUSSED THE LIMITATIONS AND OPPORTUNITIES OF THE REAL BUSINESS WORLD
For a second year in a row, teachers and students from the Tarnovo High School of Tourism implemented activities on the European project “Online Marketing Tools for VET Students”. The idea of the project stems from the needs of modern business and its aim is to make it easier for young people to participate and be involved more successfully in the labor market. What is more, students learn how to promote themselves and/or their business in order to become more sustainable and successful over time. During the first year of the project, partners created an online travel guide together, presented their business plans and online platforms. Project partners of the Vocational High School of Tourism are France, Turkey, Italy and Romania.
This project meeting took place in the French town of Guerande from 14 to 20 October 2018. Students from partner schools simulated real work environment, appeared in improvised job interviews and prepared for their desired career. The Bulgarian team of students consisting of Mihaela Papazova, Mine Alit, Nadezhda Ivanova, Nikola Hadzhiev and Emil Sevdanov prepared and presented a professional set of working papers – a CV, a cover letter and a digital portfolio. All students demonstrated a good knowledge of the specifics of marketing in a digital environment and use of online tools. They also showed that the acquired skills are not enough but they have to experiment, follow new trends and seek innovative approaches. Students combined the acquired beneficial skills with pleasant activities such as canoeing and a walk through the Valley of the Loire River and ”the greenest city of France” – Nantes.
